eExam guidelines


When completing an eExam, you agree to comply with the following rules:

The Degree Regulations of the University of Jyväskylä also apply to the eExam. Exams can only be completed by students who have enrolled for attendance and have the study right required for the exam. Particularly the following guidelines in the Degree Regulations apply to eExams:

  • The exam is monitored via video and sound surveillance.
  • On request, you must be ready to prove your identity in the way specified to you.

In addition to the above, these guidelines apply:

  1. In the EXAM room, you are only allowed to bring essential medications, a photo ID, and, if necessary, a locker key, disposable foam earplugs as well as a transparent, label-free water bottle. All other items are prohibited, such as mobile phones, smartwatches, pencil cases, personal papers, snacks, coats, and bags.  Any extra belongings have to be left in the lockers outside the eExam room.
  2. The eExam room door has an electronic lock that is open for 25 minutes on each even hour (10 minutes before and 15 minutes after the starting time of the exam).
  3. The exam time for JYU exams is either 50 min, 1 h 50 min, 2 h 50 min or 3 h 50 min, starting at the beginning of the reservation made in the eExam software.
  4. It is not allowed to leave the room and return back during the eExam (except for an obligatory reason caused by a medical condition for access to toilet, which must be agreed in advance with the janitor). Your exam can be graded fail if you leave the exam room and come back without agreeing about it beforehand.
  5. You must leave the workspace immediately after you have returned the exam.
  6. When the exam has been submitted for grading it is possible to register for a retake only after the examiner has graded the previous attempt.
  7. The guidelines for using information systems (available on the website of the eExam) are valid in eExams.
  8. Students consent to the joint use of video surveillance and eExam system information to verify students’ identity.
