After logging into Moodle, the first page you see is the Dashboard, which displays a timeline (upcoming deadlines) and your recently viewed courses. You can find all your Moodle courses on the "My courses" page.
You can filter the view, such as All, In progress, Future, or favorites i.e Starred, by selecting the filter in the top left corner of the in My courses > Course overview.
You can also add a course to favorites or remove it from view by selecting Mark as favorite or Remove from view from the three-dot menu on the course card.
If you don't see a course in Moodle that you've registered for in the study information system, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
If the course has already started but still doesn’t appear under any view on the My courses page, contact the course instructor. The instructor’s contact information can be found in the course details in the study information system. If needed, the instructor can reach out to Moodle support to resolve any system issues.
You can search for courses in Moodle using the search function located in the top right corner (magnifying glass icon). If you want to search for a course where you are already enrolled (as a student or teacher), you can also use the search bar in the My courses section, which specifically searches within your own courses.
Courses can also be browsed after logging in via the course categories list on the homepage. Courses are categorized by units or faculties. The courses of the Open University can be found under the "Independent Institutes" category.
Moodle mainly contains course areas imported from Sisu, but it also includes open courses and courses where participants can join by entering a course key. From the course list on the Moodle homepage, you can browse courses, and the icons next to the course names indicate, for example, which courses allow self-enrollment.
Each course has a summary page, which includes additional information about the course (course description) and details about the instructors.
You can enroll in a course as a student yourself.
The course uses self-registration, meaning you will likely need a course key to join the course area. If needed, request the course key from the course instructor.
If you receive a notification saying, "You can not enrol yourselft in this course," or you are asked for a course key, you are not yet enrolled in the course area. Check the following:
Courses are displayed on the "My Courses" page under In progress, Future or Past courses category based on their assigned dates. The start and end dates of courses are determined by the student information system or set by the instructor.
Even if a course area appears under Future or Past courses, students can still access the course area as long as its visibility is not restricted in the course settings. The dates do not control when the course area is visible; instead, the instructor must adjust the course area settings to make it visible or hidden.
