The University of Jyväskylä has acquired licenses for the Thinglink software. Thinglink is an web-based application used widely around the world. It enables both teachers and students to create visual learning materials.
The software is based on using images and videos, which can be made interactive by adding text, images, videos, sound files and links to them. The application makes it possible to create virtual tours, which can be played using a computer or VR goggles. Items made in Thinglink can be embedded to any website or platform.
Above is an example of a simple Thinglink item, embedded on this website.
ThingLink license for JYU
Creating interactive ThingLink content is meant for staff at the university and for students participating in study programs with the guidance of their teachers. Students’ use must be related to studies.
Viewing and using complete ThingLinks is possibly via links shared from ThingLink, on websites and for example on Moodle, without logging in. In addition, it is possible to create a free personal account to ThingLink, if a student wants to use the software outside University projects.
ThingLink guides and support
ThingLink is very easy to use. There are excellent use guides in the ThingLink Help Center. When starting the use of the program, you can also take a look at the instructions in HelpJYU-portal.
The software can be used freely, but learning to use it is the teacher’s own responsibility. ThingLink software is not hosted by the University, and Digital Services do not offer support regarding the use. University does help with questions regarding logging in. If you have problems logging in, please read the guide in HelpJYU-portal and if necessary, send a help request via HelpJYU portal.
