What you need to do after password change, why does user account lock down

Change password

You change your password at OMA - Personal information management -service, which you reach via sso.jyu.fi -portal or straight with address account.jyu.fi

If you remember your password, login OMA and change password in Change password -page. If you do not remember your password, set a new password through link Forgot your password? and online identification with net bank account authentication or mobile phone MobileID.

After the password is changed, your old password can be saved in many different services and devices. You should replace the old password with the new one as soon as possible to prevent problems.

User account lockdown

Devices and services that use automatic login can attempt connection with the old password often, even multiple times per minute. When 10 consecutive login attempts with wrong password are made, user account locks down for 20 minutes. User account recovers automatically after 20 minutes. Bad password counter resets to zero when a successful login has been made.
Lockdown completely prevents login for the duration of lockdown.

Wireless networks

To prevent problems with user account lockdown:

If you use/have used:

If you use/have used the wireless networks (WLAN, WiFi)

with your device, login the networks you use with the new password, and remove/forget the wireless network profiles you will not be using. Login replaces the old password with the new one. Removing/forgetting the network profile removes the old password and device will not attempt to login with it.

Email

If email comes to your device automatically, the device has an email profile with saved password. Replace the old password with the new one. Most email clients notice the old password not working and actively ask for new password. If nothing else helps, you can remove the old email profile from the device and set a new email profile with the new password.
