How do I get a new course area for Moodle?
New course areas are available in Moodle from either Sisu or Moodle. See detailed instructions KB0013093 Creating a Moodle course space
From Sisu
- Implementation Details > Classification Tab
- Participants, course start and end dates, teaching groups and course description are automatically transfered from Sisu to Moodle

From Moodle
- From the top of the page Home
- Select Tiedekunnat (=Faculties) and search the right unit (in Finnish only)
- Select More-menu > Add a new course
- The short name must be unique, ie in addition to a possible course code, it is advisable to add a reading code identifier (autumn20 or A20) or the teacher's name, etc.
- Participants are added to the course area either manually or they join it with the course key

How do I find a Moodle course area created in Sisu?
- In Moodle, course areas are divided into In Progress, Future and Past courses according to the start and end dates. New course areas created from Sisu often go to Future courses

Why haven’t students switched from Sisu to Moodle?
- Students information from Sisu are sent to the Moodle course area during the night after the end of the registration period ends in Sisu in case of normal enrollment.
- If the course has continuous enrollment or late enrollment enabled, then students will be admitted to the Moodle course area shortly after enrollment is accepted (Sisu).

When will students have access to the course area?
Course start and end dates
- Dates do not affect visibility and do not restrict access to the course area!
- Dates only affect whether the course area is in the In progress, Future or Past courses category in Moodle.
Show course
- The teacher should remember to show the new course area. If the course area is hidden, only teachers can see the course area.
- To display in the Moodle course area, go to the Settings and Course Visibility > Show/Hide
