Logging in to Moodle

JYU Moodle can be found from the address https://moodle.jyu.fi.

Logging in to Moodle can be done with four different ways:

Logging in is always primarily done using the University of Jyväskylä user credentials unless otherwise specified. For cross-institutional and collaboration courses, University of Jyväskylä user credentials are used even though students might also have the option to use HAKA login.

A user account is created for the University of Jyväskylä Moodle upon the first login to the service. Only after the first login will the user be searchable, for instance.

University of Jyväskylä User Credentials

Both students and staff activate their accounts and update account-related information via the OMA service. University of Jyväskylä user credentials are always used when recording any academic activities completed at the University of Jyväskylä or its Open University. It is also advisable to use University of Jyväskylä user credentials for cross-institutional or collaborative studies.

HAKA Login

In the HAKA login process for higher education institutions, you first select your organization (e.g., University of Jyväskylä), after which the service directs you to log in via your own organization’s page. The first login via HAKA creates the user account, and thereafter the service will direct you to the University of Jyväskylä Moodle.

Please note that courses in the University of Jyväskylä's study information systems are generally only accessible using the University of Jyväskylä user credentials. User credentials from other institutions are not automatically transferred to Moodle.

Other Login

Other login is used, for example, for test accounts granted to teachers. Test accounts can be requested from Moodle support via the HelpJYU portal.

Logging in as a Guest

Teachers can grant guest access to their courses. These courses can be viewed as a guest, which means you can view content but cannot participate in discussions or submit assignments or exams.
