To submit successfully, Turnitin requires files to be:
- less than 100MB
- has a minimum of 20 words (unless the assignment settings state otherwise)
- is less than 800 pages (.xls/.xlsx and .csv files must be less than 450 pages)
Turnitin will only accept files that can generate Similarity Reports.
Accepted file types includes:
- Microsoft Word® (.doc/.docx)
- OpenOffice Text (.odt)
- Corel WordPerfect (.wpd)
- Rich text format (.rtf)
- Plain text (.txt)
- PostScript (.ps)
- PDF (.pdf)
- HTML
- Hangul Word Processor (.hwp .hwpx)
- Google Docs via Google Drive
- Microsoft PowerPoint® (.pptx, .ppt, .ppsx, and .pps)
- Microsoft Excel® files as pdf

Note that Turnitin will not accept PDF image files, forms, or portfolios, files that do not contain highlightable text (e.g. a scanned file - usually an image), documents containing multiple files or files created with software other than Adobe Acrobat®.
PDFs should be created on the right way.
For example from Word choose File > Export > Create PDF/XPS and save the pdf file to your computer.
