Where and how can I arrange an EXAM BYOD?

Restricted BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) exam

Restricted BYOD exam can be arranged in the listed computer classes on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Exams should not be held at other times, in other locations, or on different computers. Please inform us in advance of your intention to conduct a restricted BYOD exam by emailing us at etentti-support@jyu.fi. Do not create a restricted BYOD exam until you have discussed it with EXAM support.

Getting started:

  1. The SEB exam is conducted in a common computer lab specified by the teacher and is supervised by the teacher (or another designated person). The supervisor must be defined as the proctor in EXAM.
  2. Students should arrive at the venue without their own computers. The exam is taken on the classroom computers with SEB installed.
  3. Students initiate the exam through the EXAM registration view by downloading the SEB launch file for the upcoming exam and clicking to open the downloaded file.
  4. The launch file will prompt the student for a password. The teacher/supervisor will provide the students with a password that was saved when the exam was created.
  5. Once the student enters the password provided by the teacher, they will log in to EXAM. The exam will start automatically when the exam session begins.
  6. Students complete the exam as usual and submit it by clicking the "Save and submit the exam" button (or if a student wishes to pause the exam, they can click the "Pause" button) and use the exit link provided by EXAM. After this, the computer can be used normally again.

NOTE: If a student mistakenly ends the exam session, a password known to the EXAM administrator is needed to release the student's computer.

Open BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) exam

An open computer-based exam can be arranged in almost all teaching spaces that teachers can reserve through the university's space reservation system. If the space is not on the recommended list, the teacher should ensure that the space is suitable for the exam, and necessary power outlets and extension cords are available for each participant during the exam. For example, smaller spaces are suitable for conducting small exams (up to 20 participants) and supervision.

For exams with over 20 participants, it is recommended to use the listed spaces.

Space reservations are made through the KOVS system.

When selecting a space, it is important to consider:

If you are planning an exam with over 40 participants, please contact Digipalvelut (Digital Services) to plan the exam together.

Computer labs: The teacher must ensure that there are enough computers in the space for the exam participants.
