Begin by saving your work with a specific name (use the "Save As" function) in the "Documents" folder. Ensure that you save your work regularly with interim saves (use the "Save" function). Once your work is complete, save it either as a PDF file, Word or Excel document, or as an image (.jpg or .png). The exam may have specific instructions regarding the format in which responses should be submitted.
In Microsoft Word, use the "Save As" function or the "Export to PDF" function. In Microsoft Excel, use the "Save As" function or the "Export to PDF" function. In Paint, use the "Save As" function and select the file format as PNG or JPG. Then return to your exam question in the browser and attach the created file from your computer as a submission (use the "Add Your Own Attachment" function).
Instructions for different software:
Word and Excel:
- Open your desired Office application (e.g., Word or Excel).
- Create or edit a document, spreadsheet, or presentation as needed.
- When ready to save the file, go to the top menu and select "File."
- Choose "Save As" to specify the name and location of the file.
- A save window will open where you can select the folder in which the file will be saved. All responses should be saved in the "Documents" folder.
- Enter the desired file name in the "File name" field. Ensure that the file name includes the required file extension (e.g., .docx for Word documents and .xlsx for Excel spreadsheets).
- Once you've set the file name and location, click "Save."
- Your file is now saved to the chosen location with the selected name. Remember that you can also use keyboard shortcuts for saving files, such as Ctrl + S when the file is open. This quickly saves the file without opening the save window if you've saved it once before.
In Microsoft Office, you can also use the "Export to PDF" function to convert your documents to PDF format. Here are general instructions for using this feature:
Word and Excel:
- Open Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint application.
- Create a new document or open an existing file that you want to convert to PDF.
- When the document is ready, go to the "File" tab in the top menu.
- Select "Export."
- Your computer will open a window where you can choose "Create PDF/XPS."
- Enter a name for your file in the "File name" field.
- Choose and confirm that the file will be saved in the "Documents" folder. If the location is correct, do not change the file's storage location.
- Select "Save." This will convert the document to a PDF and save it in the "Documents" folder.
Paint:
Paint is an image editing program, and you can save images in .jpg or .png formats following these instructions:
Save an image file as .jpg in Paint:
- Open the Paint program.
- Create or open the image file you want to save in .jpg format.
- When the image is open, go to the "File" menu (usually located in the top left corner).
- Choose "Save As."
- Select the "Documents" folder and enter the file name in the "File name" field.
- Under "Save as type," choose "JPEG" or ".jpg." This option may also appear as "JPEG Image" or similar.
- Click "Save." Paint will now save the image file as .jpg in the selected location.
Save an image file as .png in Paint:
- Open the Paint program and create or open the image you want to save as .png.
- Click the "File" menu.

- Press "Save." Paint will now save the image file as .png in the chosen location.
With these instructions, you can save images in Paint as .jpg or .png files, depending on the file format that best suits your needs. Remember to select the appropriate file format based on the requirements of the exam.
It's recommended to attach files to your exam submission immediately since the EXAM system retains all the content you've written and added, even if the internet connection temporarily disconnects or you need to restart the computer. This way, you can continue with the exam once the issue is resolved.
Please note that you can attach only one file to each essay question. So, if you accidentally try to attach two files to one question, the latest attachment will remain attached.
- Name your files carefully and ensure that the file is created according to the examiner's instructions. Remember that if you make changes to your response, you should submit the latest version to the EXAM question.
- When you have completed the exams, be sure to check that you have answered and attached all the necessary files to the questions. Then save and submit the exam.
Finally, remember to delete all temporarily saved files from your computer at the end of the exam and restart your computer. This ensures that no files are left for others to use on the exam computer.
