Joining a Zoom web conference using an invitation link

1. Make sure you have a functional microphone and a webcam connected to your device before starting up your web conference.

2. Open your web browser and paste your invitation link into the address bar.

3. This opens a tab which prompts you to install Zoom or to open the application.

Jos sovellusta ei ole, valitse Start from Your Browser

4. Next you will be asked for a username to display for others, and with that, you are ready to join.

5. Depending on whether you accessed Zoom through its application or through Google Chrome, your view may be slightly different:

A. If using the Zoom application, this is what the meeting room will look like:

Zoom-sovelluksen aloitusnäkymä

Enable audio by selecting ”Join with Computer Audio” from the Computer Audio –tab. You may access Chat by clicking the "Chat" icon found at the bottom of the application screen.

B. If using Chrome, this is what the room will look like:

Zoom-selainkäyttöliittymän alkunäyttö

Don't mind the text in the middle - it reads "username" in Finnish. Enable audio by selecting ”Join Audio by Computer” from the "Computer Audio" -tab. Chat can be accessed from the "Chat" -button. You might be asked for permission to use the microphone and/or webcam of your device - these can safely be accepted.

Notice! Some browsers do not allow "Join Audio by Computer" option to pop up. Zoom will then suggest joining the meeting through phone call - should anyone choose to do so, take notice that attending a Zoom meeting through a phone call is not free. If you do choose to call, make sure to call your country's corresponding phone number.  For example, if you are located in Finland, make sure to use only the Finnish phone number provided (begins with +358). This way, the cost of the call will be the same as using a landline phone.
