A teacher can delete their course area in Moodle. There are a few things related to deletion that should be carefully read before proceeding with course area removal.

• The course area is permanently deleted from the system, meaning it is not just removed from your own view but from everyone's.
• When the course area is clicked for deletion, it is immediately marked for removal, and the process cannot be paused or undone.
• The teacher is responsible for transferring completed coursework to the student registry and preserving materials in accordance with the University of Jyväskylä’s Information Management Plan (TOS).

Deleting a Course Area

In the teacher's view of a Moodle course area, under the heading, you can find the menu More > Delete Course Area.

The confirmation page will inform you that you are about to delete a course area. If less than a year has passed since the course ended, you will see a reminder to ensure that there are no works that need to be preserved according to TOS. By clicking Delete Course, the course will be marked for deletion. At this stage, you can also cancel the deletion by selecting Cancel.

The course area will still be visible to the teacher for a short period before it is removed from Moodle entirely. This process may take up to 24 hours.

 

The deleted courses are actually deleted and cannot be restored.
