The University of Jyväskylä has acquired a permanent campus license for the ATLAS.ti software, which supports the systematic analysis and coding of qualitative data. The campus license allows extensive use of the program by students as well. The software is available for Windows and Mac OS X computers. ATLAS.ti is suitable for analyzing text, image, audio, video, and spatial data and recognizes many different file types. The software itself does not perform any analysis but is a tool for categorizing and classifying data and conducting various searches. Analysis done with ATLAS.ti can also be continued numerically, for example, with SPSS or Excel.
Digital services provide users with technical support for the software’s implementation but not methodological support. Actual methodological support is based on a peer support network, which digital services aim to support.
It is also worth exploring the (in Finnish) online textbook on qualitative research methods in the Methodological Teaching Data Repository, KvaliMOTV:

There are two versions of the ATLAS.ti software: a desktop version and a cloud version. Sensitive personal data or confidential information may not be stored in the cloud.
The software installation on university computers is done through the Software Center (Win) / Managed Software Center (Mac) and is included in the campus license, with no separate charge.
For home use, the program costs a one-time fee of 60 € for students and staff.
Upon the end of studies, employment, or the campus license, users commit to removing the software from their computers.
Log in to the download service with your University of Jyväskylä user account. Only those who have purchased the ATLAS.ti home use license can log in to the download service.
For university-maintained computers, ATLAS.ti can be requested from local support. The license is free for centrally maintained computers.
The use of ATLAS.ti 7 ended on July 4, 2021.
The use of ATLAS.ti 8 ended on July 4, 2021.
For university-maintained computers: ATLAS.ti is installed from the Software Center (Win), Managed Software Center (Mac), or by requesting the installation of the program at help.jyu.fi (log in before filling out the form: Services and Support > Software, Devices, Technical Support > Software > Installation of Paid Application).
When installing ATLAS.ti 24 from the Software Center or Managed Software Center, log in to help.jyu.fi and read “How to install and use Atlas.ti 24 at JYU campus computers?”
