Connecting Sisu implementations to Moodle courses

When the Moodle course area is ordered for the implementation in Sisu, the implementation details are automatically transferred to Moodle as well as the students who have registered and been accepted for the implementation. The information is automatically updated from KOVS and Sisu to Moodle throughout the implementation, so information management takes place in KOVS/Sisu.

If the course area has not been ordered from Sisu, the Moodle support can connect the implementation to the course area also afterwards. In such cases, it is important to note that this manual connection will overwrite the course area settings and participant information added in Moodle. This information includes, for example, the course description, course dates, and course participants. The connection does not overwrite the materials in the course area (texts, materials, activities). When the implementation and the course area are connected, the implementation details must be updated in KOVS/Sisus, from where it will automatically update to Moodle (i.e., if you update this information in Moodle, it will be replaced by the texts found in Sisu by the next day at the latest).

Multiple implementations can be connected to one Moodle course area, for example, if you want all students, regardless of how they complete the course, to be in the same course area. In this case, all students will be transferred from all Sisu implementations to one Moodle course area. One of the connected implementations must be selected to be the one, whose course description and other information will be transferred to Moodle. In the example image, this is SISU implementation 2.

You can request to connect implementations and course areas using this form. Tell us which Sisu implementations should be connected with a Moodle course area. Provide either the web addresses (URLs) for the implementations in Sisu and the Moodle course area or the identifiers shown in the address bar (in Sisu, those beginning with JY-CUR or otm; in Moodle, id=123).

The form asks which implementation will be master one whose information (course descriptions, dates, etc.) should be transferred to the course area. Participants, i.e. teachers and students, are always transferred from all connected implementations. For example, if the course information is retrieved from the implementation Basics of everything, lecture teaching 1.1.2023-1.5.2023 and also Basics of everything, exam 1.8.2023-31.12.2023 is connected, the Moodle course will be visible in past courses in Moodle after 1.5.2023. Similarly, the course description will come from the spring implementation, which is good to note if the course descriptions differ from each other.

NOTE! Functionalities built between Sisu and Moodle, such as sending assessments from Moodle to Sisu, will not work if several Sisu implementations are connected to the course area.

Sisu connection overwrites the information in the course settings.
