How do I connect a network drive to my Mac?

1. VPN connection is required to access university network drives from outside the university's physical network.

Installing and connecting the VPN client: VPN connection on Macinstosh

2. The network directory path is required.

 U-drive: smb://fileservices.ad.jyu.fi/homes/username
 S-drive: smb://fileservices.ad.jyu.fi/commonshare
 W-drive: smb://karahka2.cc.jyu.fi/username

Connecting a U-network drive
When steps 1 and 2 are completed, the U-station can be connected to:
From the Finder => Go menu => Connect to Server.

The path to the U-network drive is the same for all users except for the user ID at the end of the path. The first time you connect, you will be asked for a user ID and password, which can be stored in the keychain and will not be asked later.

Enter your username in the format: usrname@ad.jyu.fi

The same preparations are made for mapping the S-network drive. In the Finder menus, go to -> Connect to Server ... to:

smb://fileservices.ad.jyu.fi/commonshare
