In Moodle, there will be notifications about, for example, assignment evaluations and ordering a course area. You can order a summary of announcements and messages sent in Moodle by email. These same instructions also apply to JYU Online Courses.
Notification and message settings can be modified in the following ways:
Please note that the decision to modify notification settings is up to each individual user. If they choose to disable the notifications, there's a risk of not getting important messages, such as updates on courses and activities or alerts about logging into Moodle from a new device.
You can turn on or off the notifications displayed in Moodle in the first column or the notifications sent to e-mail in the second column. For example, notifications about new logins can be turned off as follows:
In the log in with a new device notifications, it has been identified as problematic that using a VPN, Moodle notifies about logging in with a new device, even if it is the same device that has previously logged into Moodle. By using a VPN, the user's IP address changes and Moodle interprets it as logging in with a new device.

The student can subscribe to notifications about upcoming deadlines for assignment activities: as a weekly summary, 48 hours before the deadline, or after the deadline has passed, allowing them to check if the teacher has permitted late submissions. Note that the first option, "assignment notifications," should not be disabled.
It is also possible to subscribe to a reminder about the opening of a quiz activity by toggling the switch for "quiz opens soon" notification to active.
For those using organization IDs, the email information is inherited from the organization's own information systems through the HAKA federation, and it cannot be changed in Moodle, but in the organization's account management service. If you want to order course announcements to a different email address than the one provided by the system (e.g. if you are both a staff member and a student, you can enter your study email for Moodle notifications), select email settings from the notification settings. You can enter an alternative email address for notifications as follows:
By default, new forum messages (such as Announcements or other forums) are sent as a daily digest email. If you prefer to receive each notification as an individual email, you can adjust your forum preferences
When participating in the discussion area, the user automatically becomes a subscriber to the discussion area. If necessary, the discussion area can also be ordered from the upper right corner of the discussion area by clicking the button "Subscribe to forum".
The teacher can also make message subscriptions in the discussion area mandatory for everyone or disable them as needed through the settings of the discussion area. The subscription settings can be defined in the settings Subscription and tracking of chat messages via the drop-down menu on the right side of the text in the section Subscription mode.
For example, as an information channel for the course, it is good to have the discussion area messages sent to all course participants, or as a general discussion area, you can turn off the messages, so that there will not be a huge number of discussions in the e-mail summary.
With Moodle's message function, you can send messages to other users within Moodle. The message menu can be found in the upper left corner via the speech bubble icon on the left side of the profile icon.
