How do i get a university user ID? -Staff and trainees

If you are applying to become a staff member or trainee, please confirm with your contact person that your details are registered in the Staff Register ("Mepco"). Otherwise, please fill in the application form and send it to the address shown on the form.

IT Services recommends that you activate your account using your online banking credentials.

For security reasons, usernames/passwords will not be sent by email or txt messages. There are several ways to retrieve a userid:

1. If you have received an email with the title "Registration request to activate your services" sent by "University of Jyväskylä - useradmin(at)jyu.fi", follow the instructions in the message to identify yourself instead of web bank identification. NOTE! If you received that message and you have the option of Finnish web bank authentication, let us know by using this form: Get help with an IT issue. We will correct your personal data in the systems to avoid confusion.

2. You can retrieve your user ID with your online banking credentials at https://account.jyu.fi/register/ . You can log in to the Suomi.fi- service. After authentication, you will be taken to the next page:

Fill in the missing information and correct the address details if they have changed. You can also make changes later in OMA- service.

You can choose one of the options in the drop-down menu as your username. Password must be at least 20 characters long. It is recommended to use passphrases. What is a good password guide.

Accept the Terms of Use and click the Register button. You can use your login to log in to the OMA- service, where you can, among other things, choose your student email address. It is recommended that you do this immediately. The OMA-service user manual can be found here.

3. You can also pick up your user ID from the HelpJYU Service Desk on the third floor of the Lähde building. Please note that, in autumn you may have to queue. Also remember to take your ID with you!

4. Send by post to the university's internal mail service or to your home address. NOTE! Only with a application form!

NOTE! If you are currently a student and starting at the university as a trainee, you do not need to do anything. Your username and password will remain the same. You can request staff rights, e.g. for departmental disk sharing, through your supervisor at Digital Services.
