How do i log in to the University's wireless visitor network (jyu-guest)?

Connecting to the guest network wirelessly:

You can get access to the visitor network using the HelpJYU form here.

Visitor IDs are only valid for a short visit. Note! Visitor IDs valid for more than one month will not be given for the time being.

Instructions for connecting on your computer (Windows):

1. You can see the network status on your computer in the bottom right-hand corner. If you are not connected to the network the icon will look like a black and white ball. Click on the image of the ball to see the available networks. Check that you have the Wi-Fi setting turned on (appears blue when the setting is on).

2. Select jyu-guest. Click on the network and select "Connect".

Shows the list of open wireless networks.

3. The default browser (Google Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) opens on your computer. This window will only appear if pop-ups are allowed in the browser. The setting is irrelevant for logging on to the network, but the window will not appear if popup windows are blocked. If following login page does not open, try going to any webpage, that should prompt the login page to open. The view looks like this:

This is the page that opens in your browser when you click on the "Connect" button. The page asks for your username and password.

4. You have received your login from Digital Services to the HelpJYU form. By default, your username will be guestnet-username. Delete the name and enter the username you have received. Add the password. Then press "Login". Guest IDs have no connection with the University staff or student IDs and you cannot log in to the visitornet with an exiled ID. Staff and students have access to extended services from their own wireless network areas jyu-staff and jyu-student.

The picture shows an example of how to add visitor IDs to the fields. The username will be in the upper field and the password in the lower field. Then press "Login".
