The purpose of this guide is to show you how to use Duo Mobile on more than one device.

If you are setting up Duo Mobile for the first time, start with How do I set up Duo Mobile?

You will need a computer and a phone to set up Duo Mobile. When downloading Duo Mobile to your smartphone or tablet, make sure your operating system version is new enough (Android 10 or newer, iOS 14.0 or newer) and that you have enough space (Android 30 MB and iOS 31.8 MB).

 

Step 1: On your computer, go to https://jyu.login.duosecurity.com Log in using your JYU credentials.

Step 2: You will be taken to a page where you will find your current phone with Duo Mobile connected. To add another phone next to it, click on "Add a device".

Step 3: Select "Duo Mobile" to install the app on another device.

Step 4: Enter the phone number of the phone you want to connect Duo Mobile to. Also select the Finnish flag (+358). The "Add phone number" option will become active once you have entered your phone number.

Step 5: Confirm your phone number by clicking "Yes, it's correct".

Step 6: Take your phone to your operating system specific store (either the App Store or Play Store) and install the "Duo Mobile" app on your phone. Once you have installed the app, click the "Next" button.  

In the app store, you will recognise the "Duo mobile" app by this icon:

Step 7: Activate Duo Mobile by scanning the QR code (note: not the QR code in the guide) displayed on the screen with the QR code reader in the DUO app. Open the Duo app from your phone and press "Use a QR code".

The app opens a camera on your mobile phone, which you need to point at the QR code on your computer screen. NOTE! Duo mobile may require you to give permission to use the camera. Once the QR code has been read, the application will move to the next screen, which will display the number you will use to verify your login.

Let's continue the installation for a while on the phone. If you wish, you can enter a name for the new account. By default, the name is JYU. Once you have named your account, press "Save".

Next, the Duo Mobile application suggests that you practice using Duo Mobile. You can choose to practice or skip it by selecting "Skip".

Allowing notifications will put the authentication request in the "notification menu" of your phone where it will be faster to accept it. It is recommended to select "Allow notifications".

Once the QR code has been read, press "Continue" in your computer's browser (the button will become active once the QR- code has been read).

Step 8: The installation is now complete and you can find the second device in the management panel.

The next time you use Duo Mobile authentication, you can choose which phone will receive the notification/approval request.
