FAQ - frequently asked questions about using Teams
If there is a problem in these cases, the first point to contact is the IT support of the organisation from which the invitation came. Technically, the connection depends on the policies of the host organisation, but usually following the invitation link in the email will create a guest user account for Teams in the host organisation.
The University of Jyväskylä Teams does not currently support the integration of members of outside organisations as full users of Teams. Instead, adding guests is currently possible in JY Teams with limited visitor rights. You can invite a guest to your team by any email (you do not need to be a Teams user). The easiest solution for watching Teams at the same time as being a presenter and sharing a screen is to use multiple screens. On one screen you can keep the material you want to share and before sharing the screen you select "desktop 1" or "desktop 2". On the second screen you can then keep Teams open and follow the textual conversation. Teams will reduce its window when you start sharing a screen, in which case you just have to click on the bottom bar to open it again.
If there is no second screen available: you can participate in a meeting on more than one device at the same time. By downloading the Teams app to your phone, tablet or another computer, you can log in to Teams with the same credentials and join the meeting on another device, even if you are attending the meeting on the first one. In this case, you can keep Teams open on one device while you present and share the screen on the other. Remember to turn off the sound and microphone on the device you are not using to speak, so that the sound doesn't start going around!
There are several ways to send an invitation to a Teams meeting.
One option is to go to the calendar page within Teams. There, by clicking on "+ New Meeting" in the top right corner, or by clicking on the calendar for the date of the meeting, you can start creating a new Teams meeting. The minimum information is the title, the people invited, and the meeting time. When you leave the "location" of the meeting blank, Teams will generate a meeting invitation link after sending the invitation. In addition, you can add a message to the invitation by typing in the bottom field.
2. Another way to send a Teams meeting invitation is to do it in Outlook. In Outlook, in the bottom left corner you will find a calendar icon which will take you to the electronic Outlook calendar. From the top of the calendar, click on "New Event", "Meeting" or "Meeting" depending on the Outlook service you are using. You can then fill in the invitation details and depending on the service, the top bar should say "Teams meeting" or the meeting location should say "Add online meeting". By selecting this option, Outlook will generate the meeting invitation link after sending it.

If you have made a calendar booking to take place at a specific location and there is no Teams meeting invitation link in the booking, you can change the booking to a Teams meeting by deleting the location of the event. On the Teams calendar page, double-click on the event to edit the booking. By deleting the location and then saving, Teams will generate an invitation link when the event is updated.
With email migration, it is now also possible for students to create and schedule online meetings. You can also invite other students by searching for them by name. This is possible with Outlook Exhange email.
Yes you can. Just remember to use good sense and taste if you decide to use one of your own images as your Teams wallpaper!
Start by closing the Teams desktop application completely. On Windows, navigate from the File Explorer to C:\Users\username\Users\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams\Backgrounds\Uploads. In this folder, add the image you want to use as the wallpaper for the Teams meeting. Open Teams again and the background image will be available in Teams meetings from the three points behind the "Background effects" option. Similarly, on Mac computers, you can do the same by adding the image to the Finder folder: hard drive/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Backgrounds/Uploads
