To log in to a laptop computer administered by the University of Jyväskylä, the computer must identify the user. To do this, the first time you log on to your laptop, the laptop must be connected to the University's network either via a wireless network or a network cable.

Use this guide to connect wirelessly to the University network before logging on to your laptop.

Instructions:

After starting the computer, the screen will prompt you to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to unlock the computer.

1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL

In order to log in to your laptop for the first time, the computer must be connected to the JYU campus network.

Don't try to enter your username and password yet.

2. Click on the WiFi/WLAN wireless network icon in the bottom right corner.

3. Select jyu-staff or jyu-student

(only staff members can log in to jyu-staff, without staff status the connection will fail)

4. Click [Connect]

5. Enter your University of Jyväskylä username and password jyu-staff WLAN login

6. Continue connecting, click [Connect] and wait until you see that jyu-staff is Connected.

7. You can log in to your laptop with your University of Jyväskylä username and password.

Note! You need to do this when you start using a new laptop that you have never logged in to with your University of Jyväskylä username before. Once you have done this, you will be able to log on to the computer directly, without having to connect to the network beforehand.
