Nextcloud is the University of Jyväskylä's cloud storage service for storing and sharing your research data.
The Nextcloud cloud storage service (https://nextcloud.jyu.fi/) enables easy storage, use and sharing of files on any terminal with an Internet connection. It differs from commercial services in that the servers of the version used by the University of Jyväskylä are in the university's own computer room. In this way, the data is stored on a disk surface managed by the university and does not end up on the servers of commercial operators.
Nextcloud is intended to be used as the primary storage location for research-related files, unless technical limitations still favour the use of the University's U: and S: network drives or other storage environments. Nextcloud's product owner is the Open Science Centre. The service is part of the research data management service package to be implemented at the University of Jyväskylä.
Nextcloud can be used by all staff members as well as grant and other non-employee researchers. Non-employed researchers apply for access via HelpJYU:
