To use the Print it service, you must have active university ad- network credentials. Same credentials what you use to log in to a university computer.
If your university username or copy key does not work on the multifunction printers, please contact HelpJYU (https://help.jyu.fi/jp). Please include your username and name in your support request.
The Print it service is managed using Canon’s Uniflow system, into which all of the university’s departments have been entered as separate cost centers. The staff of each department are listed under their respective cost centers. In this way, copying and printing costs are allocated to the correct departments.
A new employee's information is automatically synced to Uniflow from the payroll system, at which point the department responsible for paying the employee's salary also covers the copying and printing costs.
If an employee changes departments (areas of responsibility) within the university, no action is normally required; the cost center is updated automatically. The copy key also works as before.
If a department wishes to cover the copying and printing costs for unpaid project staff, graduate students, visitors, and trainee students, the assistant must provide the person’s name, username, the department’s cost center, and the time period for which the printing privileges are to be granted via the HelpJYU service (https://help.jyu.fi/jp).
For external customers of the university, service copies and prints can be provided at Lähde Library in a limited capacity. You can get more information from the library’s customer service. Service copies and prints are chargeable.
On the upper ground floor of Lähde Library, there is a scanner that does not require network credentials and can be used by external customers.
New employees receive a photo ID card that can also be activated as a copy key. The first login is performed by presenting the card or key to the light blue reader on the front of the device. The device will indicate that the key/card is not yet registered and will prompt you to enter your JYU network username and password.
If an employee leaves the department, the copy key must be returned to Clavis or the department assistant.
A registered card or key is used without a PIN code, so it must be kept in a safe place. If you lose or damage a key, make a support request through the HelpJYU service (https://help.jyu.fi/jp).
You log in to the multifunction printer with your JYU username and password.
To log in to multifunction printers, you can either enter your personal username and password on the control panel or use a separate authentication key (copy key/card) linked to your JYU credentials.
You can log out from the multifunction printer in three different ways:
Method 1: Press the ID button on the keyboard on the right side of the screen.
Method 2: Press the "Log Out" button in the lower right corner of the Main Menu screen and you are logged out. The Main Menu can be found by pressing the "house" icon in the upper left corner of the console.
The multifuction printer logs your credentials out automatically if the device is unused for 9 minutes.
After logging in, the main menu opens, where the most important functions are found: Copy (all copy functions), Scan and Send (scan to Scanjobs folder or email), Scan and Save (to USB stick), and Secure Print (release print jobs).
You can return to the main menu by pressing the Home button in the upper left. Missing functions can be accessed via the All Options menu (upper right corner).
You can change the language by clicking the icon of two people talking in the upper-right corner. Select the language you want from the list and confirm by clicking OK. Your selection will remain active even after logging out.
1. In the application, select File, then Print.
2. Select jysecure on jy-print.ad.jyu.fi as the printer.
3. In the Printer window, click Properties. You will find almost all the necessary settings in the windows that opens.
Color, stapling, and orientation are shown in the print preview: color is at the bottom right, stapling is at the top left (1 staple) or on the left edge (2 staples), and orientation is in the center of the document image, and additional settings can be found in the Finishing and Color Mode menus (e.g., 1- or 2-sided printing, color printing, and sorting).
Separate drivers have been created for Mac computers for black-and-white and color printing. They are named JYSecure-Canon and JYSecure-Canon-Color.
All options corresponding to Windows can be found in the Mac’s own drop-down menus.
If you cannot find the driver on your computer, please contact Digital Services using the HelpJYU form: Help with an IT problem
1. Secure Print job waits for release on the server for 24 hours.
2. Just pressing the Print button keeps jobs in the queue for another 10 hours.
Do not log out before the printing is finished, as this interrupts the printing.
1. Log in and insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the right side of the multifunction printer.
2. Select "Saved Files" (if necessary, from the Show All menu).

Mobile devices means portable devices (e.g., laptops and smartphones). In mobile printing, university staff and students can send files to the Canon Secure Print queue via email. This requires a confirmed university email address.
Send PDF, Word, or Excel files as attachments to printit@jyu.fi. The message text is not printed. The file is released from the printer for printing. It is recommended to use PDF format, as formatting of Office files may change.
VPN printing is not supported in the Print it service.

Please report any service needs by providing the device name or serial number and its location. You can report the issue to the janitors, call the digital services customer service number at 029 441 8030 (Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–3 p.m.), or use the HelpJYU service: https://help.jyu.fi/jp Please include the device name OR serial number and its location when contacting us. The device name can be found on the nameplate located on the left front edge of the light cover.
The devices do not automatically detect all problems. For example, print quality issues, such as dark streaks, are not reported to the device's systems, so they must always be reported separately. The Print it service reviews the service request and forwards it to Canon if necessary.
The devices automatically notify Canon's service center of serious errors and major service requirements.
Replacements of supplies and minor repairs to printing equipment are handled by the janitors. They are trained for this task and have the necessary supplies at their disposal (such as ink, waste ink tanks and staples).
Canon devices automatically reorder supplies when they run low, and these are delivered to the janitors' central warehouse. The janitors then take care of delivering the supplies to the printers. The same applies to paper deliveries.
If any supplies are missing or cannot be found, please contact the janitor first.
It is important to note that when printing to Canon devices, the print queue/driver should be selected as jysecure. If the required jysecure printer driver is missing from the computer (i.e., the printer does not appear in the printer list, e.g., in Word), you can set it as follows:
Press Windows flag + R.
In the window that opens, type \\jy-print
From the list that opens, double-click the "jysecure" printer. Printing will then succeed when you restart the program you want to print from.

For any issues, contact HelpJYU: https://help.jyu.fi/jp
Login issues on multifunction printers are often caused by uppercase letters and special characters in passwords. Note that the Shift, Alt, and Alt Gr keys do not automatically reset; they need to be pressed again after use. You can also use the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard for numbers. You can log in and make selections in the system without a printing balance or print rights, but the print job will not complete without a valid printing balance or the department’s copy and print rights.
The printing balance should not go negative. If a user notices this situation, we ask that you contact us via the HelpJYU service (https://help.jyu.fi/jp). The reason for this error may be in rights settings if the student has been temporarily on the department’s lists and received copy and print rights from there. The student status may not have been restored correctly, so the account check is advisable.
Make sure you have enough printing balance. You can check your printing balance in two ways: either by logging in to the multifunction printer and checking the printing balance behind the Secure Print option, or by going to our web service from a workstation with your user login: http://uniflow.ad.jyu.fi/pwclient/
If the computer says to add more paper, even though there is paper, it is likely that the document is in the wrong size. The PDF printing problem is solved by removing the check from Acrobat’s print window: Choose paper source by PDF page size.
