On the first day of each month, students Primary wallet print balance is set to 5 euros. This balance is used as the primary balance for printing. Under Secondary wallet, you’ll find the balance you purchased for yourself before the printing system was updated. This balance is used when the primary balance has been used up.
You can check your balance in the uniFLOW Online management portal: https://jyvuni.eu.uniflowonline.com/ or in the uniFLOW Online app on your phone.
If your balance runs out during the month, you can request more balance for valid reasons from the Digital Services customer service desk. Sales of print balance have been discontinued.
For matters related to your print balance, you can contact the Digital Services customer service desk (Lähde Library, 3rd floor) or call 029 441 8030 (Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–3 p.m.). The help desk is open on weekdays, Mon–Fri, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also submit a support request through the HelpJYU service: https://help.jyu.fi/jp

The PrintIT- service is managed using Canon’s Uniflow system, into which all of the university’s departments have been entered as separate cost centers. The staff of each department are listed under their respective cost centers. In this way, copying and printing costs are allocated to the correct departments.
A new employee's information is automatically synced to Uniflow from the payroll system, at which point the department responsible for paying the employee's salary also covers the copying and printing costs.
If an employee changes departments (areas of responsibility) within the university, no action is normally required; the cost center is updated automatically. The copy key also works as before.
If a department wishes to cover the copying and printing costs for unpaid project staff, graduate students, visitors, and trainee students, the assistant must provide the person’s name, username, the department’s cost center, and the time period for which the printing privileges are to be granted via the HelpJYU service (https://help.jyu.fi/jp).
You can log in to the multifunction printer using an RFID tag. The tag can be a JYU staff card, a JYU locker card or another compatible RFID tag such as a bank, loyalty or travel card.
Please do not use a mobile device or a government-issued ID card for authentication.
If you do not have a suitable RFID tag, you can pick one up from the Digital Services service desk (Lähde, 3rd floor, B315) or the Lähde Library service desk (upper ground floor).
After you have entered the registration code, show the card again to the printer's card reader. The card will then be registered in the uniFLOW system, and you can use it to log in on all of the university's multifunction printers.
There are two ways to log out of the multifunction printer:
Method 1: Show the card to the reader again. The printer will then log you out.
Method 2: At the top right of the panel, you'll see your JYU username, and below it, "Log out".
You can change the printer's language by clicking the icon of the talking character at the bottom of the panel.
After logging in, the main menu opens, where you'll find the most important functions: Copy (copy functions), Scan (scan functions), and Secure Print (release print job).
You can return to the main menu by pressing the Main Menu button in the upper-right corner.
In the Status Monitor, you can view the jobs status and the log. You can also check the printer's ink levels and paper status here.
Note the data protection information when printing. If the material you are printing contains personal information, confidential information, or other sensitive content, always use the "Jysecure" printer. You can find the Jysecure printer on the university's workstations.
Cloud printing routes print jobs through the cloud and is best suited for printing non-sensitive documents. Cloud printing requires the installation of uniFLOW Smart Client on your computer.
1. In the application, select File, then Print.
2. Select the printer:
3. In the Printer window, click Properties. You’ll find almost all the necessary options in the window that opens.
4. The print job will appear in the Secure Print queue on the multifunction printer.
To use cloud printing from your computer, you'll need to install the uniFLOW Smart Client driver on your computer:

There are four ways to scan: to the Scanjobs folder, to email, to your own university OneDrive, or to the Documents folder on your Windows workstation.
We recommend using the Scanjobs folder and OneDrive for scanning.
Note the data protection information when scanning. If the documents you are scanning contain personal information or other confidential information, use the Scanjobs folder for scanning. This ensures that sensitive material is processed within the university’s own environment.
For scanning regular documents, we recommend using OneDrive, which makes your files easily accessible and available no matter where you are.
The Scanjobs option is available on A3 printers. If you can't find the option to scan to the Scanjobs folder on your printer, try scanning using a different printer.

Canon multifunction printers available for students (status 04/2026):
Please report any service needs by providing the device name or serial number and its location. You can report the issue to the janitors, call the digital services customer service number at 029 441 8030 (Mon–Fri 9 a.m.–3 p.m.), or use the HelpJYU service: https://help.jyu.fi/jp Please include the device name OR serial number and its location when contacting us.
The devices do not automatically detect all problems. For example, print quality issues, such as dark streaks, are not reported to the device's systems, so they must always be reported separately. The Print it service reviews the service request and forwards it to Canon if necessary.
The devices automatically notify Canon's service center of serious errors and major service requirements.
Replacements of supplies and minor repairs to printing equipment are handled by the janitors. They are trained for this task and have the necessary supplies at their disposal (such as ink, waste ink tanks and staples).
Canon devices automatically reorder supplies when they run low, and these are delivered to the janitors' central warehouse. The janitors then take care of delivering the supplies to the printers. The same applies to paper deliveries.
If any supplies are missing or cannot be found, please contact the janitor first.
If the computer says to add more paper, even though there is paper, it is likely that the document is in the wrong size. Click "Status Monitor" on the left side of the panel. Select the document you are trying to print. Change the paper size and print.
Printing is not working on the jysecure printer: Check that you have selected the correct printer. During the transition period, two jysecure printers may be visible. The new printer is jysecure (jyprint.ad.jyu.fi) and the old printer is jy-secure (jy-print.ad.jyu.fi).
It is important to note that when printing to Canon devices, the print queue/driver should be selected as jysecure. If the required jysecure printer driver is missing from the computer (i.e., the printer does not appear in the printer list, e.g., in Word), you can set it as follows:
Press Windows flag + R.
In the window that opens, type \\jyprint
From the list that opens, double-click the "jysecure" printer. Printing will then succeed when you restart the program you want to print from.
