Copying an exam

You can make a copy of an old exam with all its questions and edit it for reuse.

  1. Choose the exam that you want to copy from the dashboard and click the copy icon.
  2. The new copy appears in the end of the list of exams with a name copy_exam name**.
  3. Open the copy by clicking the name.
  4. Rename the exam and edit the basic details, sections and questions if necessary. 
  5. Save and publish the new exam.

     
    NB!  When copying an exam, modifying copied questions will also affect the original exams, so keep an eye for notifications in "Edit question" view.

Printing out an answer in eExam

How is the exam answer printed from the eExam application?
  1. Open from the Study attainments -tab the student's exam answer that you want to print.
  2. Click the Print button on top of the evaluation page.
  3. The print preview page opens, click Print.

 

Change the examiner in eExam?

The examiner can add another examiner or change the exam to a colleague.
  • In the basic information tab you can add an examiner to your exam.
    • Type the last name of your colleague, choose the right name from the list that the system suggests and click Add. 
    • Now you both have access to the exam.
    • If you are no longer en examiner, remove your name by clicking the cross after your name.
    • NB! If you can't find your colleague's name, ask them to sign in once in Exam so that their user id is activated.
  • You can also share your questions with a colleague.
    • Click the Question library to see all your questions.
    • Check the selection button for the questions you want to share.
    • Click Add owner to the question and write the examiner's name in the text box, select the right one and click Add.

How do I know that the students can register for my exam (publishing the exam)?

The students aren't able to register for your exam unless you publish it.

When you sign in to Exam you see your Dashboard and all your exams in four categories:

  • Active exams=Exams that are published and open to registrations 
  • Unassessed exams=waiting for to be assessed
  • Archived exams=Exams that are not visible for students anymore
  • Drafts=created but not published yet)

To publish your exam:

  • Click the name of the exam and check that all the information is correct.
  • You can use the preview to see how the exam looks like to the student.
  • When everything is ok, go to Publish tab and click Save and publish.

 

Can I unpublish an exam?

 
  • Yes, you can unpublish an exam if there are no reservations: click the Unpublish the exam -button in the Publish -tab. 

 

How to release an exam for new registrations if the student has used all attempts?

You can restrict how many attempts a student has on your exam. If the student has used all attempts without passing, s/he cannot register unless the examiner releases the exam for new registrations.

To release an exam for a student:

  1. Log in to Exam and choose the right exam on your dashboard.
  2. Choose study attainments and click the No-shows link.
  3. Click the Release button after the student's name. Now the student can make a new registration for your exam.

I’m trying to sign up for the eExam but cannot enter the system – what can I do?

 

You sign in to eEXAM in etentti.jyu.fi with your JYU user id and password. Make sure you have a valid email address activated in account.jyu.fi. If you have problems, please contact etentti-support (a) jyu.fi.

 

Which courses can be completed as an eExam?

 

The departments give information about the courses that have an eExam option. You can search for available exams in eEXAM from the navigation panel (Exams).

 

I can't find the exam that I want to register for

 
  • If you don't find the exam on your search, the reason might be:
    • you can't take the course as an eExam
    • the exam is not published yet OR it has already expired
